In 2022, Every state will have many airports, including domestic and International. Uttar Pradesh already had two functional international airports: Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport (Varanasi) and Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (Lucknow). The Prime Minister inaugurated the 3rd international airport, Kushinagar International Airport (Gorakhpur), on 21 October 2021. The passenger air traffic in Uttar Pradesh grew in 2016-17 by 30% to 6.1 million passengers annually.

The Indian aviation industry has flown many miles, set numerous milestones, and overcome many challenges to become one of the world’s most lucrative aviation markets. Indira Gandhi International Airport is the largest International airport, and the Airport of Trichy is the smallest in India.

Passengers Travelling Growth In Domestic & International Flights

During 2019 (Jan-Nov), scheduled domestic airlines carried 130.8 million scheduled passengers as against 126.0 million passengers the previous year, 2018 (Jan-Nov). The number of domestic passengers carried by scheduled domestic Indian carriers has witnessed a growth of 3.8 percent in 2019 compared to the previous year, 2018 (up to 30 November).

However, In international flights from Jan to Sep 2019, 47.4 million passengers used international flights against 46.9 million in the corresponding period in 2018, thereby witnessing a growth of 1.07%.
