India is home to some of the most beautiful airports in the world. With over 137 airports, India has a wide network of domestic and international airports that are managed by the Airport Authority of India (AAI). 1. Domestic Airports in India
As per the data released by AAI in 2021, there are 103 domestic airports in India. These airports are spread across 23 Civil Enclaves and provide air transport services to passengers travelling within India. The majority of these airports are located in metropolitan cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Lucknow etc.
The Airport Authority of India (AAI) is the statutory body responsible for managing all the airports in India. It provides various services such as airport security, air traffic control, passenger facilitation, cargo handling, engineering services and fire safety. AAI also works towards developing new airports and improving existing ones.
3. 2021 Domestic Airport Count
As of now, there are a total of 137 airports in India which includes 24 International airports (3 Civil Enclaves), 10 Custom Airports (4 Civil Enclaves) and 103 Domestic airports (23 Civil Enclaves). Out of these, 72 domestic airports are operational.

The different types of operational airports in India include:

- 10 customs airports
- 72 domestic airports
In addition to this, AAI is also working on developing more airports in order to improve air connectivity and make it easier for people to travel between cities.
